Perhaps people build a relaxation habit with the beats over time whenever played. Perhaps there is an undiscovered reason for this, that science is yet to uncover. It’s possible that there’s something to the testimony of many Lucid Dreamers? However,Binaural beats are very popular in the lucid dreaming world. However I would argue that any relaxing music could work just as well… There’s a saying that a person can do all the right things for all the wrong reasons …The placebo effect cannot be discounted, if you think it will work, it does. I don’t know to be honest, however many people have strong belief systems and science does not come into it for those that believe it works. Why Is it Recommended so Much if There’s no Scientific Evidence? I have to say I treat a lot of what is said about Binaural Beats with some degree of scepticism As I said earlier there is no hard science behind the claims that Binaural Beats actually help with lucid dreaming, just anecdotal evidence from individual users. The belief some lucid dreamers hold is that Binaural beats work by tilting your brain into a peaceful state (the mode that leads to that state is theta, (which many children are in much of the time ). Too little beta wave activity is thought to cause such things as ADHD, poor cognition, depression and/or that you’re daydreaming.Too much Gamma wave activity, for example, is thought to mean you will likely be feeling anxious, stressed or highly aroused. In other words it is argued that the balance of your brainwaves at any moment in time matters, for reasons of mood and even physicality… The pattern of transition between different frequencies determines how well you’re able to do things like concentrate, manage stress and get a rejuvenating night’s sleep. It is said that the dominance rank of your brain waves determines your mood and physical state. While you are awake, all five of these frequency waves are operating. The brain oscillates between five different frequencies, which can be observed with an EEG (long name: Electroencephalograph). This is the reason why lucid dreamers use them to enter lucid dreams. They’re supposed to put you into relaxed, even meditative state. What Are Binaural Beats?īinaural beats are two different frequencies of sounds designed to change brain function when listened to. I suppose it all comes down to the fact we are all wired differently, what works for one person will have no effect on another.
However some of my friends have said they work really well for them.
I like to be on the safe side, so I’ll stick to my warnings above, as for you, it is something you may want to try but I have to say from personal experience of trying Binaural Beats, I had limited success. Some say it’s just noise, like any regular white noise or music… Here’s a Frontier’s 22 psychiatric medical study that found no unique relationship between binaural beats and brain function: Then again, you could argue that everything I just said is all irrelevant because there’s no hard science-published in medical journals-proving that BInaural beats even alter cognition in the way that they’re touted to. or, lastly, people who require concentration in order to remain safe (such as operators of heavy machinery or drivers)Īs with anything that can impact on your health or well being always seek medical advice from your doctor if you are worried about using Binaural Beats for Lucid Dreaming.anyone with a history of seizures, mental illness or brain damage. They are not generally recommended for the following groups: Binaural Beats are generally thought to be safe for most people with a few exceptions
