The affordability factor cannot be overlooked or ignored either. Once you complete the Trueplay room tuning/optimization feature, and alter the bass/treble equalizers, I cannot tell any difference from the exact same tune I had with the PLAY:1's. I have read other reviews about how the sound quality can be less than impressive, especially when compared to the PLAY:1. The longer power cord allowed me to put them exactly where I wanted them.
Since we already had two SONOS PLAY:1 speakers (essentially the same speaker as the SYMFONISK) I tested the power cords and they are almost identical but the SONOS are slightly longer. However, the solution was simple and elegant. The power cords however, that IKEA provides are a bit on the shorter side which left me with a dilemma. We have an open concept main floor, so tucking these up above the cabinets was the best way to go.

My recommendation would be to keep expectations in check and only buy these products either to complement a larger system and/or place them in smaller rooms where the sound can easily fill the space.īuy 2 and pair them for the best audio experience!!! I bought 2 white IKEA SYMFONISK bookshelf speakers at the beginning of this year to put above our kitchen cabinets, filling the kitchen/dinning room/living room with full and clear sound. The sound quality of the lamp is comparable to the 1 that she keeps on her main floor. I also bought my mom the Symfonisk lamp for her small 2 bedroom condo which complements a Sonos:1 that I had previously bought as a Mothers Day gift. Placing the Symfonisk bookshelf speaker in my small home office fills this small room with sufficient sound to complement the more robust speakers placed throughout various larger rooms of the home.
I also use Sonos speakers in a number of rooms in my house.
The other is comprised of a Sonos Playbar, a sub, and two Sonos Play:1s as rear channel speakers. As an avid Sonos fan, I have 2 Sonos surround sound systems, one of which includes a Playbase and a Sonos sub. Overall, these speakers fill a niche in my overall Sonos eco-system.
